About Astromiror

Astromiror is a place for information sharing about higher education and careers in the physical sciences, with emphasis on physics and special attention paid to the space sciences. Astromiror is a combination of the words astronomy and miror, which is Latin for admire or wonder.

According to the American Institute of Physics, only approximately 25% of the bachelor's degrees in physics granted in the United States are granted to women, and around 15% of the doctoral degrees are granted to women. The graduate student and professional physicists interviewees are all women only. The intention of this interviewee selection is not to create gender-specific content, but to emphasize that females have a presence and are capable of succeeding in a male-dominated technical field.

Astromiror was launched on May 25, 2007. It continues to grow into an anthology of experiences and advice. It may become a great resource for students and prospective students in the physical sciences. Your support is needed - spread the word to young physicists and their mentors!
