Professional Physicists

Physics is the science that deals with matter, energy, motion, and force, and is often represented by subfields such as astrophysics, atomic physics, molecular physics, optics, particle physics, condensed matter physics, acoustics, plasma physics, nuclear physics, geophysics, biophysics, and medical physics, among others.

Physicists utilize physics in their daily work, although their job titles may not contain the word "physics" in it, such as educators, research scientists, engineers, doctors, even politicians, financial analysts, and roller coaster designers. A person educated in physics can work in just about any profession.

Female professional physicists currently working in their chosen fields in various disciplines have graciously taken their time to describe what they do in their careers and offer advice to physics students. From this sample, one can begin to see the diversity of career opportunities available to those who choose to study physics.

(Please note that the professional physicists presented here are not associated with the trademarked Professional Physicist title certified by The Canadian Association of Physicists.)
